In a recent English lesson, our students took on an exciting challenge: writing a formal letter to Elon Musk.

The task was simple but powerful. Each child had to formally introduce themselves, explain who they are, and give a clear reason for writing — just as they would in a real-world situation.

What followed was a wonderful insight into how children think when given the freedom to imagine, question, and dream big.

Some students invited Elon Musk to partner with our school.
Others requested a school trip to SpaceX.
A few even explored ideas of future business collaborations and innovation.

Beyond the fun and ambition of the ideas, this activity strengthened key skills:

  • Writing with purpose and structure
  • Using formal language appropriately
  • Organising thoughts logically
  • Expressing confidence and originality

Most importantly, it helped children understand that writing is not just an exam skill — it is a tool for communication, influence, and connection with the wider world.

Below, you can explore a selection of the letters written by our students. Each one reflects curiosity, courage, and a belief that their voice matters — no matter how young they are.
